More sketchbook work, which satisfies my dread of commitment, it’s all play and I can please myself. I’ve been doing a lot of this for the last three months and at some point I began to run out of steam, because against every fearful wish to do nothing but play, instinct was directing me to the board and the canvas, and resistance proved futile. But more of that later; in the meantime here are the sinister seed heads worked in quink ink, a Rotring isograph pen with white ink cartridge, a Pentel Gtec C4, which produces the finest of lines, and plain old dip pen and India ink. I’ve also used correction fluid to block out unwanted inked areas.

Love the serendipity of these. Sketchbooks are for exploration and play
Stunning!
Thanks Michael!
It’s rather impressive… how you manage to give depths to black… 🙂
Thank you!
a lovely play of line and edges in beautifully handled tonal values
